Private Pilot License (PPL): The First Step in Your Pilot Journey

The Private Pilot License (PPL) serves as the foundational certification for aspiring pilots. To obtain a PPL, candidates must complete both ground school and practical flight training. The FAA requires a minimum number of flight hours, which includes a minimum number of hours flight training with an instructor and hours of solo flying. Additionally, candidates must pass a written knowledge test covering various aviation topics, including navigation, meteorology, and regulations (see table) which may differ for Part 61 and Part 141 pilot training.
