Paying for flight training can seem like a daunting task. There are several options available, depending on how you choose to complete your training.
If you’d like to do your flight training as part of a college degree program, you can use federal student loans to pay for your training. Our affiliation with Liberty University is a great way to take advantage of this option. In addition, you may use funds from a 529 Savings Plan toward those costs. Students who complete their flight training outside of a college program take a few different paths to paying for it.
- Pay as you go. Some students use funds they’ve saved to pay for their flights as they are invoiced, or they place funds on their account with us in chunks and fly it off. Don’t worry—unused funds are refunded to their source upon written request.
- Use personal loans. We recommend Stratus and Flight Training Finance. See their links below.
- Use Veteran’s Administration education benefits to pay a portion of the training costs (if qualified).
- Use a combination of all of the above!

Stratus Financial
Stratus Financial offers personal loans for those pursuing flying as a career. There are several program options for both airplane and helicopter training that combine multiple ratings to fit your goals. Loan funds are sent to AV8 in chunks as you progress in your training, so it’s easy to keep moving through the ratings at your preferred pace.
